Artist's Description
Taken at the historic sponge docks in Tarpon Springs, Florida.
The region, with a series of bayous feeding into the Gulf of Mexico, first attracted attention as a place for winter homes about 1876. Some of the newly arrived visitors spotted tarpon jumping out of the waters and so named the location Tarpon Springs. The first Greek immigrants arrived in this city during the 1880s, when they were hired to work as divers in the growing sponge harvesting industry.

I am a 50 something year old Mother of 4 and Grandmother of 7. I am fortunate to be happily married to my best friend. We live in Florida and spend as much time as we can traveling around this beautiful state on our Harley. I love to take pictures of all the places we�ve been and all the cool things we get to see. My Husband bought me a Sony Nex camera for Christmas and it has now become my favorite past time to see what I can capture with it.
